VALENTINE’S DAY – Reviewed by Joyce
Listen, I’m not going to beat around the bush. Valentine’s Day is just pretty awful. Probably the biggest culprit is the writer, Katherine Fugate. The jokes, or intended jokes, are simply not funny. None of them. Now with that said, I must remind myself that comedy is probably the most subjective of any of the film genres. So it’s possible that some viewers may find some humor in this bomb. But I kinda doubt it.
Why see it? I will, from time to time, sit through a movie simply to see one or some of my favorite actors. So if you want to watch Jessica Alba, or Jessica Biel, or Kathy Bates, or Bradley Cooper, or Anne Hathaway, or Topher Grace, or Jamie Foxx, Ashton Kutcher, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine or scores of other actors who populate this film, maybe it would be worthwhile for you. If you’re like me, you might rent it because you just can’t believe that it could possibly suck with that cast.
Valentine’s Day is one of those movies that is a weave of intersecting stories of its various characters. In this case it takes place on the holiday that signifies love and romance. Many of our customers ask for a good romantic comedy, and I just wish I could recommend this one more highly. - [DVD] [Blu-Ray]
