HAYWIRE – Reviewed by Noah

Haywire, directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring Gina Carano is the story of a private sector security agent who is double crossed and sets forth on a mission of revenge. First question: Who is Gina Carano? Gina is a mixed martial arts fighter and, I’m totally serious, a former “American Gladiator.” While this is not [...]

This started out as a smarmy review of No Strings Attached. I’m not proud, I pre-judged the movie based purely on Ashton Kutcher. I don’t like him. Can you really blame me?

Man, did I not want to watch Fair Game. I remember the actual events, and I just wasn’t in the mood to relive the mistakes of the Younger Bush administration. Also, I’m not a big Sean Penn fan. He strikes me as kind of a jerk most times. I’m sure he’s lovely in person.

Everyone has already told you to see Waiting for Superman. I’m not going to be any different.  It was a heartfelt and moving foray into the crumbling American education system. Just because I say see it, don’t think I’m endorsing it as a “good” documentary.

WELCOME TO THE RILEYS – Reviewed by Noah

It seems like the fall back position of “indie” cinema these days is that drama almost exclusively comes from tragedy. Welcome to the Rileys is no exception. It’s a story of a married couple who has lost their 15 year old daughter to a car accident. After her death, they seem to be separately orbiting [...]

When I first heard this project was in the works, I groaned. I’m not a Beatles fan, never have been. The first time I saw a picture of the group I immediately recognized Paul McCartney as the guy who tried to steal Michael Jackson‘s girl, but thought that whoever this other band was they were [...]

It’s not so much that Grown Ups is a bad movie. Trust me, it is. It’s that it is so poorly structured, and yet I still wanted to see the end. Grown Ups is the story of five childhood friends who are reunited for the funeral of their beloved coach. Adam Sandler is the successful [...]
